Backlinks: The Fuel that Propels Sites to the Top of the Search Engines
Many people spend thousands of dollars on beautiful websites and then wonder why they don’t get any visitors? You can have the most beautiful website on the internet, but it is not going to produce any results if no one knows it exists. You need targeted traffic. What is targeted traffic? Targeted traffic refers to your targeted market or audience. How do you get targeted traffic to your sites? You need to be on the top of the search engines for the product or service you sell (another word for this is keyword or keyword phrase). How do improve your search engines rankings? There are two ways. You can spend thousands of dollars using Google Adwords or you can hire a link building expert to create backlinks. Lucky for you, I am a link building expert and I am going to show you a few ways you can build backlinks.
Backlinks are like fuel. However, not all backlinks are the same. There are backlinks that Google frowns upon and those are the ones you need to stay away from. Here are a few examples: FFA sites, link farms and spam sites. Stay away from these and don’t let anyone sell you a backlink package that will get your site on one of these. What you want to do is get quality backlinks from high page rank sites. Some people like to ask webmasters for reciprocal links and that’s ok. However, one way links are the best types of backlinks.
How can you get backlinks?
There are many ways of link building. I know because this is what I do for a living. I build backlinks for my own sites as well as my client’s sites. I want to warn you, it is time consuming. This is why so many people would rather outsource this work. I enjoy doing this work. As a mother to 7 kids (of which the youngest is autistic), it provides a great opportunity to work from home.
There are three effective methods that work immediately that anyone can do.
1. Social bookmarking is a great way to create one way links. You can get a link from your profile and from the article or post you bookmark. Please, be careful. Bookmarking a lot of your content can get you banned from most sites. Bookmark other content too and be generous. Making friends with other bloggers can prove to be very beneficial later on. (Using this method may also bring you a lot of traffic in a short amount of time).
2. Article marketing provides a lot of benefits. First of all, many article directories have high page rank. Another great benefit is that people may take your article and post it on their site which would produce a backlink from a different Class C ip address. The icing on the cake is that readers will see you as an authority on the subject you write for. (When I use this method for sites, the page rank improves rapidly).
3. RSS Feed Submission provides yet another way to get easy backlinks. Most RSS Feed Directories have high Google page rank. They tend to be indexed by search engines. There have been many instances that I have submitted RSS Feeds for sites and they have appeared on the first page of Google within minutes.
The most important advice about link building that I can give you is: TAKE ACTION. If you don’t take action, you will never succeed. If you don’t want to do it yourself, you can outsource your link building. Whatever you choose to do, do it. If you paid someone to create a website, make that investment work for you. Easy Back Link Strategies
If you’re just launching your career in affiliate marketing, or blogging,, here are some ways to get yourself some back links without spending a lot of money:
1) OnlyWire: OnlyWire includes a free WordPress plugin that enables you to submit your posts to numerous social bookmarking sites just by clicking a button. It submits your site and/or articles to many high PR sites, but does have the irritating element that you must log into your e-mail and confirm submissions to certain sites. You may also pay a low fee while not having to cope with this irritation.
2) Article submission: Article marketing to directories is a tried-and-true approach to drive traffic to your site. Even though some recommend article marketing to any and every directory you can find, it’s not a good overall strategy. It is far more beneficial to focus on directories which have real page rank and authority, for example EzineArticles.com, ArticlesBase.com, and GoArticles.com. EzineArticles.com has arbitrary rules and regulations that may change almost psychotically,, but when you build up a nice bank of articles with them, you’ll have clicks through to your money site for months, if not years, to come.
3) Web 2.: Blogging sites like Squidoo.com, Blogger.com, HubPages.com are all valuable places to create back links for your money site. A very nice way to produce links on Web 2. sites is by using Posterous.com. You merely sign up for Posterous by sending an e-mail to post@posterous.com and an account will then be created for you. You can then choose “Autopost” and get Posterous to post to a variety of Web 2.0 sites for instance Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed, Blogger, Xanga and WordPress.com.
4) Commenting on blogs: Leaving comments on other’s blogs is yet another good strategy. But don’t be lazy and leave dull comments like “Great site! I’ll be back soon!” If I see a comment similar to this on my own sites, I instantly trash it, and you probably do as well. So why waste your time leaving a worthless comment which has no hope of being approved? Try to look for blogs that are in your niche and then leave a link back to your website in anchor text if possible.
5) Forum Profiles: Another great method for back links. These can be tough to locate, though. Perform a Google search for “Powered by phpBB” and your keyword. Build a profile, then leave your keyword in anchor text inside your signature. Be cautious with this tactic; many forums will can you in a heartbeat if you include a signature the moment you sign up for a free account. If your forum has enough page rank, it’s worth creating a comment or two within the forum, then adding a signature in a week or two.
6) Video creation: If you didn’t know it by now, YouTube.com has become the second largest search engine after Google, so getting your videos out there is definitely worth your time and effort. Videos submitted to large directories get indexed almost immediately, and are a great way to build back links to your site. You can simply re-purpose one of your articles for video content. There are several options to make free videos,for example Windows Movie Maker and Cam Studios. You don’t need to make an Oscar-worthy video; simply put your main points in PowerPoint and narrate the rest. It’s said when you show your face, you have more credibility with your audience, which makes sense. You definitely don’t have to be Hollywood-star attractive; you need to be well-groomed and talk with sincerity sincerity. Although you may just show your mug for a few seconds at the start of the video, or upload a still picture of yourself, it’ll aid your credibility.
But real power in back linking comes when you start to link many of these strategies together in a calculated method in which looks natural to Google. There are far more sophisticated linking strategies than the these ones that will propel your site to the front page of Google quicker than you ever thought possible.
